  • May 31, 2016

The actor, Kristofer Hivju, known from Game of Thrones and Beck, together with the Swedish lifestyle magazine Cafè, made a photoshoot in Helene Knoop's studio. The surroundings were a perfect fit for Hivjus personality and reflected his past. Knoop and Hivju used to hang out in the same milieu around Nerdrum in their 20´ies.

Upcoming show. Undercurrent. Bærum Kunstforening, Norway, April 30th-May29th

  • April 25, 2016

In large format and with deeper experience Helene Knoop is showing 20 new works; paintings, drawings, installations and lithographs. Knoop interpreters the Nordic temperament and landscape with a baroque history and brushwork. Figures are poetically placed into the Birchwood and shows scenes which explains the show-title; Undercurrent. Woodland and scrub grows between large trees. Figures living their lives in the great society, children’s own world in our world and the true story about the sisters. Each work gives you layer of layer as much technique as content. As always, Knoop mixes...

Humanisme og Kunst

Newsletter Fall 2015

  • October 19, 2015

After being on the move for a year Helene Knoop has established a studio in an old cement factory, in which she has created new paintings in 2015. The story of the “Three Graces” continues, now in oil on canvas and in alarge-scale format. Knoop depicts the meeting of three women and an intimate moment which reflects upon their sisterhood. Knoop’s series “Motherhood” is enriched with a new motif: Three characters—a mother and her children—melt together in a “Goodnight Kiss.” This is a self-portrait including her two children.

Book covers

  • October 15, 2015

My painting "Clio", from the series The Nine Muses is on the cover for this book. Later this year two other works will adorn the fronts of books: one about pregnancy and another for a poet... I like the idea that the paintings can live their life in other disciplines.
